Pursue Your PhD and Change the Future: 10 Open Positions in the BIOTOXDoc Doctoral Network

Are you passionate about making our food supply safer for the world’s growing population? If so, you’re in the right place! The BIOTOXDoc project, funded by the European Union under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, is offering a unique opportunity for doctoral candidates to join a transformative journey.

BIOTOXDoc: A Glimpse into the Future

In a world of changing climate, ensuring food security and safety is of paramount importance. Yet, our agriculture and food industries face a constant threat from biotoxins produced by plants, algae, and fungi. These toxins pose a significant challenge, made even more unpredictable by global warming and extreme weather events.

Enter BIOTOXDoc, a beacon of hope in these challenging times. Our mission is crystal clear: “Safe food in a world of changing climate.” We’re on a quest to develop cutting-edge control, mitigation, and risk assessment methods for biotoxins.

Your Path to Expertise

At BIOTOXDoc, we’re not just looking for students; we’re seeking future pioneers. Our objective is to train doctoral candidates with a diverse range of skills and competencies, fostering innovation across scientific fields. To achieve this, we’ve assembled a dream team of multidisciplinary, world-class experts.

What Awaits You: A Glimpse into the Journey

Your doctoral journey with BIOTOXDoc is nothing short of extraordinary. It encompasses developing early warning systems and conducting on-site testing using portable mass spectrometry. You’ll pioneer novel detoxification strategies for biotoxins and assess the combined toxicity of co-occurring toxins. Moreover, you’ll create rapid and confirmatory tests, closing critical gaps in biotoxin knowledge.

The common thread that binds all our candidates is their exploration of biotoxin effects across the food and feed chain in the face of climate change’s ever-evolving challenges.

10 PhD Positions: Your Ticket to the Future

We’re offering 10 fully funded PhD positions, each spanning 36 months. The topics are as diverse as they are exciting: analytics, toxicity, forecasting, biotransformation, biotechnology, and biotoxin mitigation (including mycotoxins, phycotoxins, and plant-derived toxins).

Our Global Network Beckons

BIOTOXDoc is a consortium of universities, research institutions, and companies in eight European countries. By joining our PhD program, you become part of a Europe-wide research network. You’ll participate in annual meetings, international conferences, and access lectures and training courses on topics ranging from climate change to intellectual property rights and advanced food analysis.
