NEAR Protocol Unveils AI Assistant and Ambitious Open-Source AI Plans
NEAR Protocol Launches AI Assistant and Unveils Ambitious Open-Source AI Vision
At the Redacted conference in Bangkok, Near Protocol introduced its NEAR.AI Assistant, a powerful cross-chain AI tool capable of launching memecoins, searching for products, and even purchasing items across Web2 platforms. During the live demo, co-founder Illia Polusukhin used the Assistant to create and launch a Frog memecoin and order Near-branded T-shirts through a third-party service.
The alpha version of the Assistant is just the start, with future updates expected to include features like flight bookings and food ordering. Polusukhin emphasized that the platform is open-source, meaning developers can add new functionalities, and any improvements will be available to all users.

In addition to the AI Assistant, Near Protocol revealed plans to build the world’s largest open-source AI model, aiming to democratize AI access and encourage widespread innovation. Polusukhin, a key figure behind the Transformer research that influenced ChatGPT, is pushing for a decentralized, open approach to AI development.
With these bold steps, Near Protocol is positioning itself at the forefront of the AI and blockchain intersection, offering exciting possibilities for the future.
“So part of our launch is to showcase what’s possible, and then let people go build lots of different integrations.”
