Job introduction

We are in the process of increasing our Street Lighting team within City Transport at Brighton & Hove City Council. We are looking to recruit a Clerk of Works to develop, maintain and manage a systematic performance and compliance monitoring programme for works carried out by contractors. The successful candidate will work to minimise financial liability by ensuring that clear and timely records are kept.

About the role

We are in the process of increasing our Street Lighting team within City Transport at Brighton & Hove City Council. We are looking to recruit a Clerk of Works to develop, maintain and manage a systematic performance and compliance monitoring programme for works carried out by contractors. The successful candidate will work to minimise financial liability by ensuring that clear and timely records are kept.

You will have significant experience of working in a street lighting, highway management or related environment. Experience of advising on legislation, standards and practices.

This is an exciting time to join Brighton & Hove City Council within the Transport Projects and Engineering team. We have an ambitious range of projects to roll out across the city. Though much has already been achieved, much still needs to be done to improve services which will ensure the successful delivery of current projects, as well as developing new ones.

As the successful candidate you will have good experience of working in a street lighting, highway management, or related environment as well as experience of supporting engineers in a technical environment and be able t use appropriate ICT software including producing reports.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
